About the course

Course content

During the course, students shall, in groups of 2-3 persons, produce a written report based on a predetermined topic. Through lectures and group supervision, students will be taught in literature search and essay writing. The essay constitutes the examination and shall be between 4000 and 5000 words.

Learning outcome

Knowledge

The student

  • has basic theoretical and methodological knowledge of a limited topic in movement science
  • can formulate, explore and answer a scientific problem
  • knowledge of various sources, relevant subject databases and guidelines for the use of sources in their own work

Skills

The student can

  • connect theory and empiricism in movement science research work
  • present and discuss relevant theory and empirical writing in a precise and logical way

General competence

The student

  • masters basic requirements in academic writing with regard to being able to argue for academic positions, choices and priorities, as well as follow standards for source reference, citation use and layout for reference list
  • can integrate previously acquired knowledge and be able to acquire new knowledge in solving a problem
  • can plan, carry out and complete a written assignment at the scientific level with a bachelor's degree

Exchange students interested in the course must consult the Department for possible admission.

  • Independent work with a written assignment in groups of 2-3 students
  • Mandatory supervision before the bachelor's thesis can be submitted for examination

Approval of compulsory activities in BEV2900 is only possible if all three sub-activities have been approved. The deadlines for submission, guidance and approval of the reserach question, first and second drafts of the bachelor's thesis are set in the teaching plan and determined by the course coordinator and the teachers.

Evaluation

  • The bachelor's thesis is carried out in groups of 2-3 students.
  • The bachelor's thesis must follow the guidelines for the bachelor's thesis that will be published on the course webpage on Blackboard.
  • Exam registration requires approved teaching registration in the same semester. In case of a postponed exam due to absence or failure, a new assignment must be submitted. It is not possible to submit an updated version of the first submission.
  • In case of improvement of the grade, a new bachelor's thesis including supervision must be carried out at the next ordinary completion.
  • Upon re-submission, new approval of compulsory activities is also required.
  • The department can grant a postponed submission deadline in case of acute illness or similar by presenting valid documentation.

Required previous knowledge

BEV2008 and BEV2009.
