The Medical Student Research Programme (MSRP) is a national research education and grant scheme available for medical students who interested in carrying out medical research during their time as an undergraduate medical student.
The MRSP comprises two full semesters and two summers devoted to full-time research, prolonging the duration of their time at undergraduate medical school from six to seven years. Medical students in their second or third year may apply for a place on the programme. Up to 12 places on the MSRP are granted annually. The grant scheme provides financial support for two semesters and 16 weeks in the summer periods.
Students on the MSRP are expected to complete all the required coursework for a PhD and carry out their own research corresponding to approximately half a PhD in volume.
Completion of the MSRP will give a total of 120 ECTS.
