Paid Study Relevant Work
The workload will correspond to a job as a student assistant, i.e. 100 hours per semester.
The high-resolution multiscale materials characterization research team at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MTP) is devoted to understanding the correlation between the microstructure and material properties at different length scales. The majority of our research is focused on mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of metallic alloys as a function of their microstructure.
We have several possible projects you can join. Experimental work include work with state of the art methods and machinery: In-situ nanoindentation, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). Within Simulation we can offer work with Molecular Dynamics and Discrete Dislocation Dynamics on NTNU’s local super computer, and in-depth work with mathematical models to describe difficult material models.
Our collaboration partners: Statoil, Aker Solutions, Shell, Baker Hughes, Gecom, Kongsberg, DNV-Gl, FMC, IFE, SINTEF, SANDVIK, Uddeholm, Bohler Edelstahl, Vost Alpine
What you can get:
- Metallic materials sample preparation techniques and practice
