Airport transport

NTNU does not provide a pick-up service for international students, but getting to Trondheim from the airport is quite simple. Make sure to check online maps to know where you are going, and plan the best way to get there. Below are the best modes of transport to and from the airport.

Værnes-ekspressen – (The airport express)

Get on the bus labeled 'Værnes-ekspressen' and get off at Moholt studentby. A one-way student ticket with the airport express is NOK 155,-. If possible, buy your ticket online beforehand. Upon entering the bus, you can only pay with card.

Værnes-ekspressen serves all major bus stops along the route from the airport, including the following Sit student villages:

  • Lerkendal 1 (Lerkendal studentby)
  • Berg studentby
  • Moholt studentby
  • Voll studentby

Train

The train takes about 35 minutes from the airport to 'Trondheim Sentralstasjon' (Trondheim central station) in the city centre, and is the cheapest option. However, note that the train is less frequent than the buses, so check beforehand which train you might take. Once at the Trondheim central station, you can take local city bus service (AtB) from the station to your home.

Taxi

You could take a taxi from the airport to the city. We only recommend doing so if you are multiple people who can share the bill, as taxi services in Norway are expensive! A trip from the airport to Moholt Student Village , for example, will cost from NOK 800,- and up.

Bus and ferry: AtB.no

Train: Entur.no

Buying single tickets on the bus can be quite costly. Students who will be using public transport frequently should consider investing in a period ticket from AtB (which also covers trains within the greater Trondheim area).
