Substance abuse and addiction
The research group on Substance Abuse and Addiction aiming to provide increased knowledge and research activity related to substance abuse and addiction medicine.
We are a newly started research group (2021) at the Department of Mental Health, NTNU. Members of the research group have broad experience and expertise. The group members works closely with regional clinics in the specialist health services and municipal services. National and international research networks of the individual member will be used in research, publishing and teaching.
Collaboration
We collaborate with national and international research networks, cclinics in our health region, as well as groups and projects at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, NTNU.
The research group currently has six PhD Candidate fellows.

- Effect of endurance training on cognitive functions and treatment response in patients with substance abuse problems.
- Clinical benefit of a transdiagnostic understanding model in young adults with substance abuse problems.
- Use of mobile sensor data and neurocognitive measures to predict drug use and relapse into drug use.
- Substance abuse problems, mental and neurocognitive problems in adolescents in youth residential care; self-harm and drug use.
