University Museum: From Noah's Ark to the Double Helix
Animals of the world
At the University Museum, we have exhibited a large collection of taxidermy animals. Both Norwegian animals, such as brown bears and moose, and exotic animals, such as Siberian tigers and monkeys.
This exhibition is particularly popular with young children, who love to see animals from all over the world up close. You can also learn interesting fun facts about the many species we share the globe with, and what role they play in the ecosystem.
Did you know that three out of four of all the world's known species are insects? Or that birds are the last surviving group of dinosaurs? So they are not only related to dinosaurs, they are dinosaurs. And whales are actually considered a pair-toed ungulate, since they are descended from land animals that transitioned to living in water.
The exhibition also contains a bird diorama, where you can get to know the Norwegian birdlife and the environment in which they live.
