The Museum's Laboratory is the only one in Norway conducting age determination of archaeological and natural scientific samples of organic material. It dates archaeological, geological and organic material through radiocarbon dating (14C) and dendrochronology dating (tree-ring analysis). The radiocarbon dating are based on accelerator-based mass spectrometric measuring (AMS measuring) of radioactive carbon (14C). The laboratory accepts both granted and paid commissions.
