Diversity, inclusion and participation

Research group

Diversity, inclusion and participation

Research activity

A major goal of the research group is to explore and illuminate disability as a societal phenomenon, not only as an individual phenomenon.

The research group’s activities support WHO and the UN’s recommendations for equal opportunities for all, and a joint responsibility for leaving no one behind. The UN Convention of the human rights of people with disabilities (CRPD) and the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030 are central frames of reference for the research group. Another goal for the research group is to promote and develop health- and welfare services and competence among staff in these services.

Equal opportunities for all

The Research group on Diversity, inclusion and participation was established in 2021.

Research

The group’s research projects embrace the following subjects and areas:

  1. Inclusive research, training, education, and work for people with disabilities
  2. Citizenship
  3. Participation, user-involvement, and self-determination
  4. Knowledge and perspectives in municipal health care services
  5. Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)
  6. Knowledge-based habilitation

The research group’s activities focus on intellectual disability as well as physical and mental disability, health problems and lifestyle issues.
