Movement science and Elite sports

Movement science and elite sports consists of 7 professors, 2 associate professors, 3 senior engineers and a number of research assistants in addition to PhD and postdoctoral students - students. Movement is the central aspect in the group's research, both as a path to good performance and health, and the ability to move as an aim in itself. The group's research is relevant to all levels of sports, work life, school, health services and public health in general. The research contributes to increased basic and applied competence and innovation. Physical activity and exercise are important in our research.

With our interdisciplinary perspective in research, in which motor skills, biomechanics, physiology and epidemiology are integrated into close dialogue with relevant actors (such as the Olympiatoppen, St Olav's Hospital, Sintef, Statped and various parts of the health care system), we add knowledge to society. We use a wide range of research methods, among which experimental, field-based and observational research, as well as computer simulations.

We cooperate with research environments nationally and internationally. Our research projects allow for both master's and doctoral projects at the MH-faculty in general and for the specialization in Movement Science in the international master of Physical Activity and Health in particular.
