Welcome to one of Norway's largest hubs for educational didactics and subject-specific expertise in the social sciences and religious studies. Our department is dedicated to advancing school-based competence through innovative teaching and research.

Our research groups address pressing issues in subject content and didactics, collaborating extensively with peers both nationally and internationally. We are also committed to enhancing professional practices in archives, museums, and document management, ensuring our graduates are well-prepared to meet the dynamic challenges of the future.

We provide a diverse range of programs designed to cultivate critical social and professional insights, aligning with societal needs and regulatory frameworks. Our course modules cater to various educational levels and interests:

  • Primary and Lower Secondary Teacher Education for Grades 1–7 and 5–10
  • Teacher Education for Grades 8–13
  • Practical-Pedagogical Education, available both full-time and part-time
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Archive, Museum, and Document Management
  • Master’s Degree in Archive and Document Management
  • Advanced and Continuing Education in Archival Studies and Teacher Training
