About us

Vocational education and training is a broad and significant field of study and research that encompasses training in schools and businesses, higher education, and the workforce. The research group YRKforsk consists of professionals from the Department of Teacher Education, aiming to contribute to the national knowledge front about, for, and through vocational education and training. The group's work spans the entire vocational field, from vocational didactics and pedagogy, vocational-specific disciplines, vocational education for young people and adults, collaboration between the higher education, schools, and businesses, to practice and professional development, both nationally and internationally. The group is particularly interested in the opportunities and challenges arising from changes in vocational education/training and the labor market.

The group members represent various program areas within vocational education, including health and social care, restaurant and food subjects, electrical and computer technology, building and construction technology, technology and industrial subjects, and hairdressing, floristry, interior design and visual merchandising. The research group has an umbrella structure, with "vocational education" as the overarching theme. The purpose of the group is to strengthen the connections between vocational research and practice in education and the workforce, as well as to contribute new knowledge about a large but under-communicated field. Additionally, the group serves as a forum for collaboration on the development of research and development projects, writing, presentations, and publishing.
