The unit is responsible for education, research and development within clinical nursing and nursing science. Clinical nursing as a science encompasses research directed at phenomena linked to the direct contact between nurse and patient. The knowledge derived thereof is presented as research based knowledge, education or theory. Research based knowledge is thus the link between clinical nursing as a profession and as a science.

The activity in the unit for nursing is founded on a close social environment and "open doors", close supervision from teachers and student groups that provides confidence. We have trainee places with high quality and the most advanced simulation centre in Norway in modern, well equipped premises. We have an active student environment, focusing on problem based learning and ICT-based supervision
