Department of Architecture and Technology
The Department of Architecture and Technology's (IAT) vision is to develop architecture and built environments based on circularity, technology, aesthetics and ethics.
It is our goal to contribute to the development of circular architecture and built environments through research, architectural and artistic practice, and the education of independent candidates with integrated knowledge within
- Architectural design and aesthetic expertise,
- Tectonics and construction understanding,
- Preservation, and further development of existing built environments,
- Energy use and greenhouse gas emissions in the built environment.
Our teaching is largely project-based and has a holistic architectural approach to aspects such as sustainability, change, culture, function, aesthetics, technology, craftsmanship and experience. The knowledge base is created from research, architectural practice and artistic development work, and much of the activity is linked to projects in Norway and internationally. This means that those who study with us gain up-to-date competence that is in demand both nationally and internationally, with, for example, architectural offices, consultants, contractors, and administration.
