We are focusing on better utilization of building thermal assets and enabling a complete renewable district heating (DH) system. To achieve the project aim, the following objectives are defined:

  1. Develop methodology to assess existing and new storage potentials for thermal energy storages and flexibility in DH
  2. Design and model typical DH systems with distributed and renewable heat sources that maximize low-cost thermal energy storages and flexibility potentials
  3. Evaluate potentials for sector coupling between electricity and DH
  4. Develop intelligent management system for smart DH systems based on the latest development in machine learning methods
  5. Develop business models to utilize DH thermal storing potentials and benefits of sector coupling
