University of Gothenburg
The University of Gothenburg (UGOT) is one of Sweden’s largest universities Sweden, with 50,000 students and 6,000 staff. UGOT is the host of the only Department of Marine Sciences in Sweden. Also related to the work of DiverSea are the Centre for Sea and Society as the interdisciplinary platform for all marine research at UGOT, and the one-stop node for societal interactions and external communications. Additionally, UGOT is the host of the Swedish Institute for the Marine Environment, which is the link between academia and the agencies dealing with marine issues and responsibilities. UGOT hosts two research stations and an ocean-going research vessel.
Role in DiverSea
Within DiverSea, the University of Gothenburg will develop and apply sensor and sensor platform applications to study the essential ocean variables in different case study areas, especially the northern case, and the Aegean Sea. They are developing new underwater inspection AUV robots that will be evaluated and applied to the project needs. Additionally, UGOT will contribute to data management and support modelling development. UGOT will further contribute to the citizen science development and some outreach components.
