Dokuz Eylül University (DEU) is a research institution that performs research on multi-disciplinary scientific and engineering subjects under Marine Science and Marine Technology departments. Their research is primarily focused on understanding the marine environment and the management of living and non-living marine resources. DEU primarily aims to provide contributions to marine science and develop the technologies that will enable the use of marine resources by humanity through high technology products meeting or going beyond the universal standards and marine research activities.

Role in DiverSea

DEU will actively lead some case studies in Aegean Sea as well as participate and contribute some others in order to acquire realtime and historical data on marine habitats (WP1), and their collation, compilation and standardization (WP2). DEU will also contribute to developing models of the ecosystem dynamics and their linkage to indicators representing the state of ecosystems’ health (WP3), as well as to developing a dashboard for biodiversity and ecosystem goods and services in order to achieve knowledge integration (WP4). Together with all partners, DEU will also join the efforts for communication, dissemination, and exploitation of the project results (WP5). Finally, DEU will lead the actions to ensure compliance with the 'ethics requirements' during the project works to be accomplished (WP7).
