9th Int. CeBiTec Research Conference Bielefeld
23-25/09/2019
All C1Pro project partners contributed actively to the 9th International CeBiTec Research Conference at Bielefeld University in many ways: members acted as part of the scientific committee, as session chairs, as lecturers, poster presenters or participants of a panel discussion about networking in white biotechnology. Dissemination of C1Pro results was very well received by the 75 international participants from academia and industry.
Gregor Kosec (AciesBio, SL) from C1Pro participated in the panel discussion on white biotechnology with Georg Lentzen (b.value, DE), and Markus Pötter (Evonik Industries, DE), moderated by Katrin Kriebs (CKB & CLIB-Cluster, DE).
Visiting international student
07/07-07/08/19
This summer, the C1Pro team in Bielefeld was supported by international students. Carsten Haupka and Kerstin Schultenkämper worked with Sue Fletcher, a BSc student from Edmonton, Canada, participating in the Alberta OWL Cooperation, on Bacillus methanolicus biotechnology.
Visiting students from MSU
C1Pro team at NTNU has received two visiting PhD students from Prof. Karen Draths’ group at Michigan State University this July. Megan Gruenberg and Yasheen Jadidi worked closely with Dr. Marta Irla from NTNU on microbial and molecular techniques for B. methanolicus.
C1Pro meeting in Ljubljana, Slovenia
C1Pro members at project meeting in Ljubljana, where were presented and discussed the project status and the latest activities carried out in each work package.
Meeting with chemistry trainees
The concept of methanol dependent production of value-added compounds was presented by Kerstin Schultenkämper of the C1Pro team to pupils, chemistry trainees and their teachers at the technical college Berufskolleg Senne in Bielefeld. A deep discussion about life sciences and university life evolved afterwards.
Meeting with Korean delegation in Bielefeld
During a meeting with a Korean delegation from Kyungsung University in Busan- South Korea, cooperation partners of the Wendisch lab at UNIBI, that highlighted international cooperation on the university level, the level of Bielefeld Biology department and in European research projects Kerstin Schultenkämper presented the C1pro EraCoBiotech project. She discussed the whole process from conception of the idea to the approval of funding and introduced the research topic of methanol-based production of value-added compounds with her first results. The meeting was held at Center of Biotechnology (CeBiTec), Bielefeld.
TeutoLab Academy - Systems Biology
Kerstin Schultenkämper of the C1Pro team visited the course “TeutoLab-Academy Systemsbiology” at Bielefeld University. The discussion with the pupils on sustainable bioproduction was deep and the pupils were thrilled by the subject and had interesting and critical questions about biotechnology, science and sustainability.
