WiBEC Experimentation Week in Tübingen, Germany
In May, Ovesco Endoscopy AG will host the first WiBEC Experimentation Week in Tübingen, Germany. The event is mandatory for all ESRs (Early-Stage Researchers) taking part in the Horizon 2020 project “Wireless In-Body Environment”, which is funded by the European Commission as an Innovative Training Network (ITN).
The event will provide knowledge fundamental to research and development actions regarding medical devices for use in the GI (gastro-intestinal) tract. Talks will range from medical background (including human physiology and standard endoscopic procedures) to capsule endoscopy and regulatory concerns. Several hands-on sessions will ensure that the diverse group of 16 PhD candidates, most of whom have an engineering and technology background, will learn about the characteristics of the GI tract and interaction between technology and anatomy. They will have the chance to observe/interact with simulated or porcine GI tissue and use endoscopic equipment themselves.
The Experimentation Week hosted by Ovesco will give the ESRs important background knowledge and experience for developing new technologies safe to use in the human GI tract.
