The first WiBEC Experimentation Week in Tübingen
The first WiBEC Experimentation Week in Tübingen, Germany, took place from 15 to 17th of May 2017.
The event, hosted by Ovesco Endoscopy AG, was a great success and provided a wide range of knowledge regarding medical devices for use in the GI tract with presentations, hands-on-sessions and a case study presented by a total of seven speakers from different relevant fields.
The first day covered medical background (anatomy, physiology and pathology), introduced medical devices currently used in the GI tract (including practical experiments) as well as an overview of the state-of-the-art in capsule endoscopy.
On the second day, the ESRs (Early-Stage Researchers) were introduced to the innovation process of medical devices (including testing, documentation and certification), using Ovesco's state-of-the-art HemoPill acute device as a case study. The afternoon was taken up by active experimentation and presentation of results as well as a very lively and fruitful discussion.
The final day began with a short overview of (pre-)clinical background in the field of medical devices and then looped back to the previous two days, enhancing and consolidating the information previously presented in the context of HemoPill acute and providing insights and answers from experienced members of Ovesco's research and development team.
All ESRs were enthusiastic and highly involved, making the Experimentation Week a truly collaborative and instructive event.
