About

About the course

Course content

Advanced themes and methods within the field of Geomatics will be presented, discussed and applied. Focus will be on subjects related to current research and new developments within the field. The students are expected to critically read and review scientific publications, and actively contribute to the subjects presented in the course. The students are also expected to contribute to presentations and discussions in colloquia. The content will, to some extent, be adopted to current issues and research within Geomatics at NTNU.

The student need to choose two modules, 3,75 credits each Relevant modules: Geographic information science (Geomatics), GPS 3,75 (Geomatics), 3D modelling (Geomatics). One 3,75 module from Computing Science may be included. It is a major overlap between this subject and TBA4232, which means that these subjects can not be studied in parallel.

Learning outcome

The course aims to be adapted to the present research activities at the division of geomatics and the specified course choice of the student. The course also aims to strengthen the theoretical platform.

Knowlege

The candidate should have knowledge of advanced themes, research-based topics, methods, and the new developments within geomatics.

Skills

The candidate is able to - identify the challenges within the study field, and to solve the problems to be addressed. - critically consider scientific materials - have deeper undrestanding within the chosen study field based on scientific work methods. - undrestand and use the terminology used in the study field.

General competence

The candidate can - read scientific literatures critically - work independently and in a team and be able to take the necessary initiative.

Learning methods and activities

The course is based on different modules. Each student select 2 modules that have to be completed. The methods for learning depend on selected module.

Further on evaluation

Combination of partial oral exams or projects depending on selected modules. Each student needs to complete two modules. Each partial exam/project is evaluated by a numeric mark (0-100) which will be used in the calculation of a the final grade for the course.
