About the course

Course content

System concept - System analysis - different energy systems such as building/industry/municipal etc. - Modeling - Simulation/Optimisation

Learning outcome

After completing the course the student should have Knowledge about: - Have basic knowledge of energy systems at different levels - How to describe the technical components that are part of an energy system - Explain the most important components of an energy system. - Integration of various energy sources when studying energy systems - System approach and especially about energy system and modeling of it Skills: - The student should be able to model simple and complex energy systems - The student should be able to calculate the necessary capacity with the help of analysis tools - The student should be able to make an economic assessment when designing an energy system. - The student will also use simulation / optimization tools on practical and theoretical issues within the energy system General competence: - The student should be able to communicate central subject matter in writing and orally

Learning methods and activities

Project work: - Participation in projects where simulation / optimization tools are used to solve various problems within energy systems. Introductory lectures, project assignment, exercises. - Some topics are taught in English. The simulation tool used assumes that one must have a laptop

Compulsory assignments

  • Hands-in

Further on evaluation

If fail improved report should be submitted and oral presentation should be made in March the following year.
