Partial 3D Object Retrieval Descriptors

P3DOR

The methods developed by ATHENA-RC in the context of PRESIOUS project include point cloud-based descriptors, panoramic view-based descriptors, Fisher-based partial 3D object retrieval method, panoramic-based partial 3D object retrieval method. These methods are conditionally available via registration. The freely provided executables can be used for academic use and under license for commercial purposes.

VRMW-ES: Erosion Simulation System

VRMW ES

The Virtual Repair and Measurement Workspace (VRMW) is a multi-purpose platform for virtual operations on digitized cultural heritage objects. This version (VRMW-ES) is an extended version of the base system (Virtual Reassembly System - also available separately), which adds erosion prediction and measurement functionality to the basic VRMW suite. The Erosion Simulator, which is the back end of the VRMW degradation prediction functionality, simulates the erosion process on the surface of an input mesh of a stone object over time. VRMW-ES also fully supports all object reassembly tasks, measurements and manual manipulation and collection management functionality of the base system.

You can download the VRMW-ES - Erosion Simulation System software. The bundle includes documentation and simulation tools. Download example data specific to the erosion simulation. Before downloading the VRMW-ES suite, make sure to read the End User's License Agreement.

System requirements: 64-bit Windows Operating System (tested on Windows 7 and 10), OpenGL 3.3 compliant graphics processing unit (GPU), Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 C++ x64 Redistributable files (included). The software has been tested on systems with an NVIDIA graphics card.

VRMW - Virtual Reassembly System

VRMW

The Virtual Repair and Measurement System (VRMW) is a multi-purpose platform for virtual operations on digitized cultural heritage objects. The base system (Virtual Reassembly System) is concentrated on object reassembly tasks and measurements in a fully three-dimensional environment and supports collection management facilities and manual manipulation functionality. However, the system is modular and supports various extensions. VRMW is free to download and use for personal, academic or generally, non-profit purposes.

You can download the VRMW - Virtual Reassembly System software. The bundle also includes documentation and supporting tools. Download example data. Please note that the example data archive is ~1.5GB. Both files should be extracted to the same folder. You can also download the VRMW - Virtual Reassembly System Documentation separately. Before downloading the VRMW suite, make sure to read the End User's License Agreement.

Erosion Simulator

Erosion Sumulator

The erosion simulator can be used to virtually erode the surface representation of a marble monument or object. Two auxiliary modules are also provided. These are the  stone builder that can be used to sample stone material onto a surface model and the differential measurer which computes a distance function between the pre- and the post-erosion version of an object.

Symmetry-based Completion Tool

Completion

The Symmetry-based completion tool is an implementation of the paper I. Sipiran, Gregor, R., and Schreck, T., “Approximate Symmetry Detection in Partial 3D Meshes”, Computer Graphics Forum (proc. Pacific Graphics), vol. 33, no. 7, pp. 131-140, 2014. The tool uses a graphical user interface for the preview and parameterization of the method and runs on Linux platforms (64bit). The current implementation of the method supports symmetrical expansion of an object and extraction of the complementary part (i.e. the part of the geometry that does not belong to the original object).

Meshlab Segmentation Plugin

Meshlab

This Meshlab plugin implements the segmentation methodology presented in the 2014 Eurographics poster "Facet Extraction and Classification for the Reassembly of Fractured 3D Objects" by A. Andreadis, P. Mavridis and G. Papaioannou. The zip file contains the source code and two binaries of the plugin compiled for 32/64-bit MeshLab v1.3.3 for Windows and 64-bit MeshLab v1.3.3 for Linux (tested on Mint 17.3 64bit). The source code can also be found at the Meshlab repository.

Parametric-space Real-time Feature Estimation Tool

PSM

A free tool for estimating a number of surface features in real time, using fully GPU-accelerated geometry sampling in parametric space. This tool is a direct implementation of the method presented in A. Andreadis, G. Papaioannou, P. Mavridis, A Parametric Space Approach to the Computation of Multi-Scale Geometric Features, proc. GRAPP 2015. The tool includes the estimation of the following features: Mean curvature, open sphere volume (volumetric obscurrence), shape index and local bending energy. The software comes with a modified MIT license.
