Best Paper Awarded at ISBA-2019
Norwegian Biometrics Laboratory at NTNU wins yet another Best Paper award at IEEE International Conference on Identity, Security and Behavior Analysis (ISBA) by the IEEE Biometrics Council held at Institute for Development and Research in Banking Technology (IDRBT), Hyderabad, India. ISBA-2019 was targeted to report research outcomes in the area of defining human side of security and user behavior as well as social influence in the security of information systems facilitating the exchanges between academia and industry. The research article authored by NBL members - Dr. Kiran Raja, Prof. Raghavendra Ramachandra and Prof. Christoph Busch with the title “Towards Reducing the Error Rates in Template Protection for Iris Recognition Using Custom Cuckoo Filters” proposes a new and superior template protection scheme to protect iris image templates. The research is inspired by the nature of nesting of cuckoo bird to develop a new protected template creation mechanism. The research article also demonstrates reliable biometric performance with high degree of unlinkability, irreversibility and privacy protection in the lines of number of their earlier works.
