The best paper awarded to NBL members at CVIP 2018
Norwegian Biometrics Laboratory at NTNU wins the Best Paper award at International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR) – CVIP-2018 held at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design & Manufacturing, Jabalpur, India. CVIP-2018 was targeted to report research outcomes in the area of Image Processing and Computer Vision serving as a platform for exchanges between academia and industry. The research article authored by NBL members - Dr. Kiran Raja, Prof. Raghavendra Ramachandra and Prof. Christoph Busch with the title “Fused Spectral Features in Kernel Weighted Collaborative Representation for Gender Classification using Ocular Images” focuses on classifying the gender based on the information from region around eye, popularly referred as ocular/periocular region. The researchers state that the information can be used as soft-characteristics , especially in surveillance scenarios. The article uses the well-established kernel-based collaborative representation method to out-perform state-of-art approaches. The research article also demonstrated the use of spectral imaging for gender classification in the lines of number of their earlier works.
