Exchange Student from Tokyo
17 November, 2016 - Ryosuke Kawamoto is an exchange student from the University of Tokyo and has been working with the silicon and manganese reduction process since he came here in January this year.
The 23 year old chose to be an exchange student because he wanted to visit new places and get new experiences. One of his professors from Tokyo is an acquaintance of Merete Tangstad, the RD2 leader here at the center, and so his choice fell on Norway and NTNU.
As a difference between the scientific environment here and in Tokyo, he points out that the relationship between industry and the university is much closer here in Norway than in Japan. The CRI Metal Production is a good example of such close cooperation.
When he goes back to Tokyo around Christmas times he will start his second and last year of his masters degree. The research he did here at NTNU will not count as a part of his studies back home, but regardless of this, he will be going home with increased knowledge in the field. The center wishes him all the best of luck in his continued studies!
