The Department of Public Health and Nursing (ISM) aims for better public health, both nationally and globally. We are responsible for research, teaching, innovation and communication within the fields of community medicine, nursing science, general practice and applied public health.
The Trøndelag Health Study (HUNT) and HUNT Center for Molecular and Clinical Epidemiology are parts of the Department.

The World Health Organization (WHO) emphasizes that pediatric primary
health care professionals have an important role to play in tackling the
childhood obesity epidemic, noting that “health professionals and all
those providing services to children and adolescents need appropriate
training on nutrition and diet, physical activity and the risk factors
for developing obesity”.
