About the project

NTNU and the University of Maine establish a new partnership in higher education and research for strengthening the development of next generation offshore wind infrastructures (NUWind).

NUWind project is a four-year teaching and research collaboration between NTNU Department of Marine Technology and UMaine in the field of offshore wind funded by the “Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills” for 2023-2026.

The offshore wind industry is rapidly growing worldwide and is recognized as one of the most important strategic areas by Norway and the US.

Both the Department of Marine Technology, NTNU and the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Maine (UMaine), US have a wide range of common research and educational activities in the area of offshore wind technology, thereby formulating a sound basis for further cooperation between the two institutions.

14 faculty members from both departments are grouped into eight unique research and education-based competency areas that will support and develop education and research exchange of master, PhD students and faculty members, joint publications, joint scientific seminars and course development.
