IMod-Workshop-2024-Description

Workshop on PDEs, Spatio-Temporal Statistics, and Data-Driven Methods in Neuroscience and Fluid Mechanics

Location: Trondheim, Norway

Venue: The Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters, Elvegata 17 (Google Maps)

Dates: March 12–14, 2024

The IMod project aims to combine methods in statistics and partial differential equations in the setting of neuroscience and fluid mechanics. This concerns in particular data-driven and stochastic PDEs, as well as new models and methods in spatio-temporal statistics involving gaussian random fields connected to SPDEs. More generally, all steps towards combining the knowledge from the respective fields in new mathematical models are of interest.

In this workshop we invite scholars with an interest in one or all of these fields to present their work in an accessible way. The focus is on the exchange of ideas between the fields, and to present different groups that are all working towards the same goal, in different contexts and with different techniques.

General information

Tickets

The organisers are happy to cover standard economy fares to and back from Trondheim for the speakers, as well as local connections from the airports, train station, et cetera. This will be handled after the conference, using the BetalMeg service provided by the national university service.

Travel and accommodation

Trondheim city centre is about 40 minutes from Trondheim Airport with the airport express bus. There are airport express buses scheduled for every arrival. Most speakers will stay in Comfort Hotel Park, which is in the city centre, and the closest airport express bus stop is "Prinsens gate". The hotel is about a 10 minutes walk from the workshop venue.

Reimbursement

Tickets should be standard economy fares. The Workshop will be able to cover travel expenses up to EUR 300 for Scandinavian travellers, EUR 600 for European travellers, and EUR 1200 for international. Click here for instructions. If you have any questions, contact Douglas Svensson Seth at douglas.s.seth@ntnu.no.

Information about the city

If you take the local bus within the city, you need to buy a bus ticket before you enter the bus. See information at webpages of AtB, which is the local company running the bus transportation system.
