About Just transition

How can we ensure that the green and digital transformation leaves no one behind? On this page, you will learn how Team Just Transition explores the paths toward a fair, inclusive, and sustainable future.

Team Just Transition is a group of interdisciplinary researchers dedicated to understanding and promoting a fair and equitable shift toward a sustainable, green, and digital society. Our work focuses on how climate change, natural hazards, energy systems, socio-economic structures, and public policies interact - and how they can be transformed to support environmental resilience, social justice, and long-term sustainability.

Achieving a just transition means first critically examining the current systems that create inequality, resistance, and injustice in climate, energy, and digital policy landscapes. We investigate the forces that shape climate policies, the roles of private organizations and public actors, and how technological solutions and renewable energy initiatives are positioned within broader systems of power and influence.

At the same time, a just transition is about actively building affordable, inclusive, and resilient alternatives. We explore how technology, energy security, digital innovation, and climate adaptation can intersect to create solutions that protect and empower vulnerable communities. Our research highlights the importance of investing in climate-resilient infrastructure and nature-based solutions that benefit everyone.

Across these themes, we focus on the pathways that make fair transitions possible, always recognizing that each community faces unique challenges. We emphasize lived experiences of climate-related disasters and the need for adaptable, locally grounded strategies.
