About chemical engineering and biotechnology

Chemical engineering and biotechnology is a 5-year Master's degree program that provide you with broad basic skills in chemistry and other sciences. The program provides solid insight within your main profile and understanding of the industrial processes that are in use. At the same time, you will learn about project work, communication and information, and you will gain contacts that are useful throughout life.

At the master's program in chemical engineering and biotechnology, you will have access to modern equipment and be guided by skilled professionals. You will get a thorough theoretical understanding and good understanding of the practical and industrial application of what you learn. This combination makes you sought after in the business sector, and it is an exciting education for those who want to make a change. Many master's thesis and projects are carried out in close cooperation with leading companies in Norway. This means good job opportunities after completing the program.

Course Objectives
The first two years, the program is common to all students of chemical engineering and biotechnology. The program provides you with an introduction to chemistry, chemical process technology, mathematics, physics and information technology. For the last three years, you will choose one of the following main profiles:

  • Chemistry
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Materials Chemistry and Energy Technology

Language of instruction: Norwegian

You have to meet the Norwegian language requirements, or have a Scandinavian language as your mother tongue, if you want to apply to any of NTNU’s degree programmes taught in Norwegian.

The application deadline for the programme is April 15th. Students apply through Samordna Opptak.
