Course content

The course is based on the school's and vocational education and trainings’ social mandate, the knowledge and ethical basis for the vocational teacher's practice and what it can mean for the development of teacher professionalism. The course provides an introduction to different views on knowledge, learning and education (Bildung) in a professional and societal perspective and what significance it can have for children and young people's learning conditions. The student gets practice in reflecting critically on their own role as a vocational teacher and becoming aware of the school's significance for the development of a democratic and diverse society. The course will help to develop the understanding of the relationship between theory and practice. The students' own experiences and expectations are central to the course.

Learning methods and activities

Learning methods and activities­­­

In the teaching, emphasis is placed on varied forms of work, where the students are especially trained in conversation about and critically reflecting on pedagogical as well as vocational didactical issues. Parts of the teaching will be campus based, while a significant part of the course activity also will be in a digital space in collaboration between students.

Assesment:

A digital folder consists of

  • 3 processed group resources
  • a written or digital description of the group’s work through the semester

The folder shall contain one resource from each of the core themes: knowledge, learning and education [buildung]. These are processed after a response from the course teachers. The digital folder shall contain one written, one digital (film, podcast, presentation), and one module of choice to communicate the group’s acquired knowledge and skills acquired through the semester.
