Course content
The candidate is given the opportunity to spesialize in a self-chosen theme that is relevant to learning in working life and society. This includes an autonomous research work through activities as designing and delimitating of research interest, scientific genre and presentation, and systematic pursuit of relevant literature. The candidates exploration of research interest and self-chosen theme is aimed at supporting the subsequent master thesis process.

- is able to systematically seek for, select, and provide arguments for the choice of reading list.
- can situate the chosen theme in relation to the actual international field of research.
- can formulate a delimitated research question and carry out an autonomous analysis of it.
- can present, scrutinize and discuss his or her own and others' work, both in writing and orally, in line with scientific principles.
General competence: The candidate
- holds the competence to plan and carry out a systematic and autonomous process in research and investigative work.
Learning methods and activities
The teaching is based on gatherings and consists of seminars and guidance. Take a look at Blackboard for detailed information about compulsory assignments at the beginning of the semester. The course is mainly offered in the autumn semester, but it can also be offered in the spring semester as an instructed reading course, for part time students on the Master's programme in Adult Learning if required. Part time students on the program who wish to take this course in a spring semester can contact the department for information about how to sign up.

Further on evaluation
A written assignment is to be submitted. This will be 8-10 pages long (A4, line spacing 1.5, 12 pt Times New Roman), and will be an independent paper, treating a research question within the field of learning in working life and society.The self-chosen reading list and theme must be approved before the paper can be submitted.

Recommended previous knowledge
VL3011. EiT and "elective course".
Required previous knowledge
VL3000, VL3010 and VL3012 must be passed and compulsory assignments in VL3011 must be approved to be admitted to the course.
Course materials
To be announced at the beginning of the semester. The self-chosen part of the reading list must be sufficiently broad and thorough in scope in relation to the self-chosen theme.
