Course content

The course provides an overview of, and discusses what promotes or inhibits development and innovation in organisations. The focus will be on change and development in organisations and on discussion of how such processes can be facilitated. Key concepts related to the innovation research field will be treated in the course. The course draws on both individual and systemic perspectives. Based on concrete examples and theory, the implications of knowledge in working with change, development and innovation in an organisation will be discussed. Actual research projects within the field will be used as examples.

Learning outcome

The student has insight into change and development, and knowledge on how innovation happens in established organisations. The student has knowledge about planned organisational change, knows terms associated with the innovation field and has insight into how employees can contribute to innovation (employee-driven innovation). The student is able to use this knowledge to lead, participate in and facilitate innovation, change and development in organisations. In addition the student has insight into how research is conducted in this particular field.

Learning methods and activities

Compulsory assignments

  • Partizipation in 80% of the teaching program

Required previous knowledge

Bachelor's degree in social sciences or humanities, or equivalent.

The required prerequisite knowledge must be fulfilled to be admitted to the course.
