About the course
Course content
The course is organized around the first phase of a larger innovation project. The students will get acquainted with a collaborating partner with a real-world problem. They will gain basic experience with relevant technology in order to design a system that meets the problem requirements.
Learning outcome
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of different roles for an electronic systems designer in society.
Skills:
- Design of simple electronic systems using microcontrollers, sensors and actuators.
- Documentation for a technical and general audience of a problem solved through a developed electronic system.
General competence:
- Beginning identification with the role of technological problem solver and innovator.
- Team work skills.
Learning methods and activities
Project work in groups. Dialogue-based learning methods combined with lectures. Guest lectures and excursions.

Further on evaluation
The assessment is based on the project report (50%) and a demonstration and presentation of the project (50%). Both parts needs to be passed to pass the course. Participation is obligatory. Information is given at the start of the semester.
For a re-take of the course, all assessments during the course must be re-taken.
