About the course
Course content
The course provides a basic introduction to acoustic waves, transducers and techniques for audio recording and audio reproduction including auralization and spatial audio techniques, music instruments, and room acoustics, with a special focus on practical consequences for music performance and recording.
Learning outcome
Knowledge: The candidate has - Good knowledge about sound fields outdoors and in rooms - Good knowledge about the structure and functioning of electroacoustic transducers, in particular loudspeakers and microphones - Good knowledge about measurement techniques in room and electro acoustics - Good knowledge about hearing and psychoacoustical effects of listening to sounds in a room - Good knowledge about sound recording and reproduction techniques - Good knowledge about the sound generation and radiation of music instruments Skills: The student is able to - Analyze sound fields in rooms - Perform and do basic analysis of impulse response measurements in room and electro acoustics - Analyze how sound fields in rooms will be perceived by a listener
