Course content

Calculations: order of operations, fractions, exponents, radicals, negative numbers, parentheses. Algebra: Square of sums and differences, factorization, rational expressions, cancellation, equations, inequalities Functions: Definition of a function, quadratic functions, zeros, factorization Trigonometry: Trigonometric functions, angles, length of an arc of a circle, circular sector, law of sines, law of cosines, sum and difference of angles, double angles

Learning outcome

Learning outcomes - Knowledge: Have good knowledge about the topics specified under the heading "Academic content". Learning outcomes - Skills: Know and use the order of operations for addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and exponents Manipulate fractions, cancellation and equivalent fractions Calculate with exponents and radicals Use squares of sums and differences for factorization and completing the square Use linear and quadratic function and find the zeros of such functions Solve equations involving rational expressions Know the definitions of the sine, cosine and tangent in a right-angled triangle Calculate the length of an arc and a circular sector Calculate with triangles using the law of sines and law of cosines Use the formulas for sum and difference of angles and the double angle formulas Learning outcomes - Expertise: Be able to use mathematical methods witnin other subjects in nautical education Have a mathematical foundation for further studies and lifelong learning in nautical courses

Re-sit exam: November/December.In the event of a re-sit exam, the written exam can be changed to an oral exam.
