Course content

Experts in Teamwork is a course in which students apply their academic competence in interdisciplinary project work to learn cooperative skills that can be transferred to the workplace. Relevant issues from technology and society form the basis for the project work. The student teams may work together with external partners.

The student team must adapt the project that the team members choose, to suit their combined competence and the theme of the village. This village focuses on technological and societal issues of the use of hydrogen as fuel in transportation. The main objective of the village is to identify current limitations and suggest related solutions.

What are the technologies based on hydrogen for transportation? Are they efficient, safe, energetically and economically sustainable? What is the social and environmental impact of these emerging technologies? Multidisciplinary alliances need to be formed to harness diverse skills and technologies and deliver comprehensive answers to these questions. Learning outcome

Knowledge:

The candidate will

  • learn to communicate and cooperate enabling the students to contribute to comprehensive solutions;
  • learn job satisfaction and learning in interdisciplinary project work later in their professional life;
  • gain insight into how his or her behavior and attitude can influence teamwork.

Skills -

The candidate will be able to

  • evaluate her/his cooperation and, consequently, understand how to communicate, plan, decide, solve tasks, handle disagreement and relate to professional and personal differences;
  • sustain and strengthen initiatives that stimulate cooperation or change patterns of behavior where necessary.

General competence:

The candidate will

  • develop a conceptual framework and be able to apply basic group theory to describe specific cooperative situations;
  • develop a new perspective on their academic competence by communicating and applying it;
  • be able to cooperate with people from other subject areas to take advantage of interdisciplinary expertise.

Learning methods and activities

Activities are suitable for both English and Norwegian.

The course is given intensive with full days in week 2-4. It is compulsory to attend classes.

Corresponding to fourth year of MSc study.
