TPK4460 - Robotics and Automation
About
Lessons are not given in the academic year 2024/2025
Course content
This course is predominantly for students taking TPK4560 - Robotics and Automation, Specialization Project. It covers
- Industrial robotics with a focus on applications within production.
- This includes kinematics and programming of industrial robots, robotic welding, robotic assembly, and other industrial applications. Computer vision for use in robotic systems is an important area.
- Industrial computer systems for the implementation of robotic manufacturing systems, Industry 4.0, subsea control systems, and mechatronics.
- Automation for offshore applications with a focus on top-side automation for drilling platforms and control systems for subsea production systems for oil and gas.

Further on evaluation
The course is a basis for TPK4560 Robotics and Automation, Specialization Project. Students who take TPK4560 Robotics and Automation, Specialization Project can take an other ordinary course in lieu of TPK4460 as specialization course in agreement with the supervisor.
Students who do not also take TPK4560 Robotics and Automation, Specialization Project will need the lecturers' approval to take TPK4460.
It is required that all the mandatory exercises have to be approved for admission to the exam.
Mandatory work from previous semesters can be accepted by the Department for re-take of the course if there have not been any significant changes later.
At postponed exam (re-sit exam), the examination form may be changed from written examination to oral.
Recommended previous knowledge
TPK4170 Robotics, TPK4171 Advanced Industrial Robotics, TPK4125 Mechatronics, and TPK4128 Industrial Mechatronics is recommended.
Programming knowledge at the level of TDT4102 Procedural and Object-Oriented Programming is recommended.
