About the course
Course content
The course offers a specialisation in selected advanced topics within Production Management and Logistics Engineering, including smart, sustainable and digital production management and logistics engineering, and application of Industry 4.0 in production management and logistics engineering.
In addition, the course contains an introduction to relevant research methodologies and scientific writing.
Learning outcome
Knowledge;
After completion of the course, the student will have deep theoretical knowledge within production management and logistics. The course is a basis for TPK4530 Production Management, Specialization Project.
Skills;
After completion of the course, the student will have skills related to:
- Finding and applying new knowledge from literature and other reliable sources
- Evaluating scientific publications and using these in their own work
- Designing a research project, including formulating problems and research questions, and planning appropriate activities and tasks
- Giving a structured presentation of their own work
General competence;
After completion of the course, the student will have general competence required to design, carry out, and report a research project within production management and logistics.

Further on evaluation
For admission to the exam a set of assignments defined at the beginning of the course needs to be completed.
In case of re-take of an examination, mandatory work from a previous semester can be accepted by the Department if there have not been any significant changes.
At postponed exam (re-sit examination), a written exam may be changed to an oral exam.
Recommended previous knowledge
The following courses are required: TPK4135 Manufacturing Logistics, TPK4160 Supply Chain Management.
Deviations from this can be accepted depending on previous experience and topic for the specialisation and master project.
