Course content

This course is a beginner’s course within innovation. During the course we will go through subjects such as detection of needs, creativity, How to make good solutions, business models, organizational alignment, communication, innovation team, innovation champions, innovation management and innovation strategy. You will be exposed to different ways of thinking in order to improve your solutions.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:
The candidate shall:
- Have general knowledge around innovation in established companies.
- Know some innovation tools (Doblin’s ’world map’, The five disciplines of innovation, the customer journey, 10-20-30, Business modeling tools and Blue Ocean Strategy).
- Be able to uncover and analyze customer needs.
- Know some creativity tools.
- Be able to set up a business model.
- Know and understand organizational elements such as teams, organizational alignment and the value of innovation champions.
- Know some elements connected to innovation management, organization of innovation within the company and innovation strategy.

Skills:
The candidate shall be able to:
Limit, plan and perform an innovation project.

General competence:
The candidate shall have:
- General competence within innovation.
- Be able to identify and analyze innovation projects.

Learning methods and activities

Project oriented. Lectures, exercises. Project count for 100% in the evaluation. Assessment for the course is based on group projects. If significant differences in the contributions from group members have been documented, individual adjustment of final grading may be considered.
