Course content

The course provides a general introduction to organizational theory with an emphasis on technology management, and the historical development of organizational theory. This includes organizational structures related to division of labour, integration and coordination, as well as integration of people. The course also gives students a basic understanding of project management and change management.

Learning outcome

The subject is compulsory in the second year of the study program MTIØT. The course will convey the following knowledge: General knowledge of organizational theory with an emphasis on technology, as well as the historical development of the organizational theory subject. Students gain specific knowledge of organizational structures related to division of labour, integration and coordination, as well as relating this to the integration of people. Furthermore, the course will provide basic knowledge about management of value chain processes and projects, and enable students to assess and analyze organizations as well as developing suggestions for further development.

Lectures and written exercises. The excercises are compulsory and done in groups.

The overall assessment in the course consists of a school examination.

There are two compulsory exercises that must be approved before the candidate can take the exam. The exercises are carried out in groups. For re-sit examination, the examination may be changed to oral. The student is only entitled to a postponed exam in partial assessments that have not been passed or in the event of a valid absence.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Industrial Economics and Technology Management (MTIØT)

Required previous knowledge

Only students at Industrial Economics and Technology Management can attend to the course.
