Course content

The course deals with management of change and organization development. The following questions will be addressed: What is change management? How can we understand change management? How can we practice change management?

Learning outcome

The course is an elective for students in the 8th semester of the MTIØT program, and obligatory for students with a main profile in Strategic Change Management. By the end of the course, the students will be able to: - Describe the main steps in planned change and the roles of internal and external change agents. - Describe important activities and interventions for organization development and discuss when they are appropriate. - Systematically collect information and diagnose organizations with respect to identifying challenges and planning change projects. - Apply principles of change management to real-life case organizations by planning organization development. - Apprehend the principles of academic writing and apply those in written reports. - Present and communicate the content of academic text and original analyses precisely and to the point.

Learning methods and activities

The teaching requires active student involvement. Learning activities include self-tuition, lectures, group work, presentations and plenary discussions. The students will work with a change project for one or more real-life case companies. Students are expected to use the literature and models presented to suggest improvements to the change Project(s) in the case companies. The folder consists of several tasks.

The assessment is based on two assignments, a group assignment which counts for 60% and an individual assignment which counts for 40% of the grade. These assignments are handed in at the end of the semester. Guidance will not be given on these assignments, but the group assignment will much be based on previous compulsory practice assignments where guidance and feedback will be given.

In case of a re-take, both assignments in the course must be taken again.
