Course content
Fundamental principles of project leadership and project organizations. Challenges and success factors in projects. Stakeholder management and relationship management. Establishing and organizing project teams. Sustainability in projects and UN sustainability goals. Collaboration models for reducing project challanges and enhancing the project outcome.
Learning outcome
Course position and function: - First Year mandatory course in Master of Science Programme in Project Management (PROMAN) and shall, together with other programme courses, fulfill PROMAN learning objectives. Course knowledge dissemination: - General knowledge concerning projects and project work - General knowledge concerning fundamental principles of project organizations - Specific knowledge regarding internal and external stakeholder management and relationship management in projects - Specific knowledge regarding establishing, organizing and improving project teams - Specific knowledge regarding project participants leadership. -Specifc knowledge regarding sustainability in projects related to UN Nation goals 3, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17. Course skills development; -Identifying, defining, evaluation and developing improvements within project teams and the way they are managed. Other important learning objectives; - The students shall, through discussions and case based exercises develop knowledge and skills regarding how to apply theories and experiences to find practical solutions to project related problems.
Learning methods and activities
Lectures and group based, mandatory, exercises. Discussions in groups. The course is held in English if foreign students are present.

Further on evaluation
The assignment counts for 100% of the grade and is a presentation of a project organization with typical challenges that have been found through research. You will work in groups of 2 or maximum 3 students. The group has 14 days to solve the challenges applying literature and research (takes approximately 3 working days to do the assignment).

Required previous knowledge
The course is restricted to students at International Master in Prosject Management (MSPROMAN) and students at collaborating programs (MTIØT).
