Course content
This bachelor thesis is a supervised independent scientific project within a topic chosen by the student. This course aims to provide an introduction to scientific writing, finding and using sources and oral presentation techniques. The thesis is intended to connect the student to topics and research that thematically ties to the Department of Physics' research groups.
This course can also be taken by exchange students with special need for project work, typically due to requirements from their home institution.
Learning outcome
Knowledge:
- The student is expected to achieve knowledge within the subject area of the thesis.
Skills:
- The student will receive training on how to systematically collect information through literary search among other things
- The student will receive training in planning and carry out an independent project using scientific methods
- The student will learn to write å scientific report.
General knowledge:
- The student will receive training in communicating about scientific topics
Learning methods and activities
This is an independent work with supervision. There will be an oral presentation of the bachelor thesis. Standard amount of hours given for supervision is 12,5 hours. Expected workload is 450 hours.

If the thesis is taken again, a new topic question must be chosen and a new thesis must be written.

This project is normally done by BFY-students in their 6. semester. Recommended previous knowledge similar to first 4 semesters BFY.
