Course content
Technological development and history of technology, history of science and science theory, socioeconomics and economic history, politics and democratic processes, demographical and cultural changes in a societal context, as well as ethics and moral
Learning outcome
Knowledge
Candidates who have passed this course have knowledge of:
- democracy and how the society is organised, such as laws and regulations, and how these are made and used
- how private and public organisations operate in business and working life
- the principles of science
- normative and applied ethics
- what categorises technological development historically and geographically
- the interplay between technology, society, economy, and the environment
Skills
Candidates who have passed this course can:
- consider and discuss simple technological products and processes, and the effects on society and the environment
- explain relevant development tendencies and the main structure of the Norwegian business culture
- explain the importance globalisation and cultural differences have on technology, and business and social development
- use ethical principles in evaluations and decision-making processes
General competence
Candidates who have passed this course show an understanding of:
- the importance of an overall perspective of technology
- innovation and entrepreneurship

Five assignments: 4 out of 5 assignments must be approved in order to take the exam. One of these assignments is an obligatory project.
