About the course
Course content
The students apply their knowledge in Electronic System Design and Innovation to develop solutions for an organization or company which undertakes to ensure the quality of the process. The course gives an academic foundation for the development project.
Learning outcome
Knowledge:
The student will have knowledge of methods and tools to carry out a concrete development project within Electronic System Design.
Skills:
The student shall have skills in
- evaluating realistic performance requirements for an electronic system.
- designing and making a functional electronic system.
- documenting an implemented system.
- assess the solution regarding sustainability.
General competence:
Based on his/her expertise in Electronic System Design and Innovation, the student shall gain experience in
- solving a problem for a demanding customer.
- communicating with the organization and others involved.
- presenting the solution for peers.
- documenting the solution in an engineering way such that it may be maintained and furter developed by others.
Learning methods and activities
Individual work with supervision, with mandatory participation. The academic supervisor is responsible for following up mandatory activities in the course.

- Problem definition
- Status reports
- Demonstration and presentation of the product
- Documentation of the product

Further on evaluation
To be graded Pass, the following must be done:
- The candidate must have provided progress reports on time throughout the semester.
- The candidate shall assess the solution regarding sustainability.
- The product must be demonstrated and behave according to current specifications.
- The product must be documented in a way that adequately facilitates operation and maintenance, repair and modification, and further development.
Recommended previous knowledge
The student must normally have completed the third year of the master's degree programme Electronic System Design and Innovation or equivalent. The student takes the initiative to set up the project herself/himself in cooperation with the problem owner.
To enrol for this course the student must find an academic supervisor at the Department of Electronic Systems. The supervisor decides whether the project fits to the course. This must be agreed upon before the course may be selected at Student Web.
