Course content
The course is conducted in conjunction with a project work that integrates the following 4 main themes: Project Management. Building technology. Building structures. Technical installations.
Theme 1 Project management, applications to authorities, cost estimates, project descriptions, schedules and tender documentation.
Theme 2 Building technology 2 with a continuation of the subject Building technology 1, with emphasis on incorporating a further understanding framework for building construction techniques and illustrating the connection between the different elements that are needed to understand how buildings work, building problems and choice of materials.
The theoretical part of building technology with climate constructions, heat engineering solutions, moisture mechanics, sound, acoustics and introduction to fire engineering dimensioning. Practical building technology with building engineering main features, building parts relationships with each other and the importance of details for the whole.Material qualities and equipment standards. Design criteria in the different phases of the construction process to assess framework conditions and building tasks' content and complexity. Use of building information models.
Theme 3 Building constructions with common structural principles for support systems, especially regarding to foundation and simple dimensioning of concrete and wood constructions.
Theme 4 Technical installations, heating, ventilation and sanitary (plumbing) and electrical installations (EL). Plumbing section: Construction and operation of heating, ventilation and sanitation. Space requirements. EL Part: Basic introduction to electrical engineering. Lighting systems, light sources and energy consumption.
