Course content
The master's thesis must satisfy requirements for relevance in accordance with the academic content of the programme and is expected to provide new knowledge that is aimed at specific goals or applications. The student formulates the problem for the master's thesis.
Learning outcome
Knowledge
The candidate:
- Has deep insight into the issue raised in the master thesis.
- Has advanced insight into theory relevant to the problem.
- Has insight into the research method necessary to analyse the research question.
Skills
The candidate:
- Can formulate a problem, search for and review relevant literature, choose analysis method, possibly design an empirical study and present empirical studies, conduct analyses and draw conclusions.
- Can plan and carry out a major investigation work within given time and resource frameworks.
General competence
The candidate:
- Can carry out an independent, limited research project under supervision in line with current research ethical norms.
- Through the work on the master's thesis, the student will exercise the ability to critically reflect on one's own and others' work, including assessing theoretical and practical implications of research and investigation work
Learning methods and activities
The master thesis should be an independent work under supervision. Allotment of supervisor will take place in October 3rd semester. The master thesis is written alone or with a fellow student (ie max 2 students).
Further on evaluation
Submission: End of May. If special causes arise (e.g. illness), students can apply for a postponement until 31 August of the same year. The course is only available to students who have the right to study in the master's programme in technology management at NTNU Business School.

Admission to a programme of study is required:
Management of Technology (ØAMLT)
Required previous knowledge
Examination in all compulsory subjects must be passed by the registration deadline.
