About the course
Course content
This course builds on SMF1193 Organization and Management, where students learned about key concepts and theories related to the field. In this course, we give students a good understanding of how, among other things, individual and social psychological processes play a role in how we learn, perform, and interact in the workplace. In an increasingly complex and global worklife, it is important to be able to navigate wisely and knowledge based as a participant in an organization. This course will provide useful competence for anyone who will participate in change and interaction processes in organizations, either as an employee or with management responsibility at various levels.
Learning outcome
Knowledge:
- Has a good knowledge of theories and processes within organizational psychology and management sciences.
- Has a good knowledge of the history of the field and its place in society.
Skills:
- Has a good understanding of, - and can assess challenges and approaches related to the management of various processes in complex organizations.
- Can apply their academic knowledge to solve theoretical and practical problems, based on the course’s curriculum theory.
General competence:
- Has insight into relevant professional and ethical issues when it comes to organizing and leading employees in an organization.
- Has awareness around the complexity of an organization.
- Can communicate and discuss issues within the subject area both orally and in writing in a mature and reflective manner.
Learning methods and activities
The course is facilitated with recorded videos, as a supplement to the students’ reading of the curriculum. All learning material is made available on Blackboard.
It is a goal that the candidates can bring their personal experiences into the course, as a basis for discussion of theory and problem solving. Therefore, digital colloquium groups consisting of 5-6 students will be established. These groups are put together by the course responsible and are fixed throughout the semester.
In addition, the students will work with mandatory tasks, where peer evaluation will be part of the learning activity. These can be delivered individually or in groups of 2 - 3 people.

Mandatory activities described above and specified at the start of the semester must be passed to take the exam.
The exam is a 6-hour digital school exam.
The course has ordinary re-examinatin.
