About the course

Course content

This is an advanced course in personality psychology (theory and method). Course materials and lectures covers important theories of personality, mainly related to normal psychology. Important concepts and research findings are dicussed, including the impact of heredity and environment on personality development, the relationship between personality, health and work, and topic of normal vs abnormal personality. Development of capacity for independent reflection in these areas is emphasized.

Learning outcome

Knowledge:

  • The student has broad knowledge of the principal theories of personality with emphasis on normal psychology.
  • The student has continued and deepened the knowledge related to the key concepts and issues in relation to the level of the course PSY1016.
  • The student has broad knowledge of personality in relation to inheritance and environmental factors in relation to personality development.
  • The student has broad knowledge of the relationship between personality, health, and work and normal functioning.

Skills:

  • The student can reflect independent in relation to the field of personality psychology.

General competence:

  • The student can exchange views and experiences with others who have a background in the field.
  • The student can communicate in writing and discuss key theories, issues and discussions in the field.
